Hi,
I had a running installation, but it was installed several years(?) ago and neglected and ignored. :( I was trying to bring it back to life, but found out it no longer works. I get the error below. I get the same error when I try to run "install/index.php". First, i don't know what version I have now. Where can I look for that? I believe the only change that was made to my web host is a newer PHP version, but I cant remember what the old version was, maybe 5.6 ? My ultimate goal is to upgrade to 7.1.5. Can I bypass all this even if the old site isn't working?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi @roram3
If you want to keep the old database with posts and hopefully it is intact, you had better make a copy of it. In the database you can find the version. Then clear the host of the b2evo version you have, completely, and reinstall the same version as noted in the database. If the current install of b2evo is the one that was working with the database you can find the version from the file mentioned below.

If you can use cpanel, find the database verison of your current installation as in the image below, which shows the database version for b2evo 7.1.5

If you still have the b2evo version you used last, maybe the one you say where you ran [/install/index.php] again, then you can look at the file [/conf/_application.php] for the version and check that against that version shown in the database.

If they don't match then you will need to find the compatible b2evo version for the number in the database. sadly the only way I know of doing that is to download a version then check the number in the abovementioned file . . . . I have a list but only from 6.9.6 at http://rogerlovejoy.net/blog/b2evo/database-versions
