[1.10.x] Problems with right-hand sidebar article summaries

My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

I'm using the Blue Heaven skin on my blog website: www.benlynes.com

This is my first experience of using a blog, and my knowledge of web languages is very limited.

I have been able to do some basic edits to the _main.php file, in order to add elements to the left-hand sidebar, but am having problems with the right-hand side of the page.

For each posting I make, the posting is duplicated in a list at the very foot of the right-hand sidebar. If I post a very long post, this will end up making the webpage extremely long. Ideally, I would only want the sidebar to show the header of say the last 10 posts.

Could anyone give me any assistance please?

Hi Ben,

You are now using the [url=http://manual.b2evolution.net/Linkblog]linkblog[/url] for notes in the sidebar. The llinkblog is better used for links only as you may have discovered, you don't have much control.

You should use the [url=http://brendoman.com/dbc/2006/07/12/sideblog_plugin_for_b2evolution]Sidebar Plugin[/url] instead. There is not much info on the page I linked to, so if you have any subsequent questions, don't hesitate to report back to this topic.

Thanks for the help Afwas. I installed the Sidebar plugin ok, and have had a look at what it can do.

I was a bit confused about your mentioning using the linkblog, as I wasn't aware I had posted there. I checked, and sure enough - no posts. Delving in a bit further, I found my mistake. I had set the default linkblog on my main blog, to be the blog itself. This is why all my posts were appearing in the linkblog.

Thanks for you help in any case, it certainly helped me get to a solution.
