My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

Hello;

I am starting a new community website using b2evo as the primary CMS. I also plan to have a forum, and maybe some other stuff. My test install is at http://www.cochlearworld.com. No real content yet.

I have a question about where to install b2evo. I would "normally" install a package like b2evo in a subdirectory (e.g. blog). I would then redirect the homepage url to http://www.cochlearworld.com/blog. I have done this in the current install.

My question is, does installing the blog in a subdirectory and redirecting the main index page have a negative impact on SEO?

Thanks,
Mark

I'm no expert on the topic, but I don't think so. Keep in mind the blog will make urls with the full path, so only those who visit the domain itself will experience the redirect. After that everyone will see "domain.com/path/file.php". Including search engines. So that's why I can't envision any downside with regard to SEO stuff.

OK -- thanks EdB. This makes sense as Google returns pages, not sites (that is part of your point, right?)

I'm new to SEO -- I appreciate the input.

Also, I am very impressed with b2evo.
