My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I have a problem with the "views"-count for articles. In the beginning it counted the views, e.g. this older article http://www.tophealthspot.com/health-2-66.php , but now it doesn't count any more, e. g. this newer article http://www.tophealthspot.com/health-2-401.php

Maybe it doesn't count because no one clicked the link? If this should be the problem, it'll be solved when some of you clicked the links. But when I personally click the link, the view count doesnt increment.

So how could the problem be solved? How does the view-count work?

Thank you,
Amit S

I'm not sure exactly how views are counted, but I just clicked on each of those links. I see 32 views and zero views right now.

BTW the thing that counts as a view has changed from time to time to make it more accurate. Does visiting the page count as a view? Does it have to be visiting the permalink page, or is seeing the post on a multi-post page also a view? What about clicking the "read more" or "leave feedback" link?

Anyway I clicked both and see 32 and 0 views.

Hello EdB,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes visiting a single post or visiting the permalink page does count as a view. But this is not happening at the moment. The number oif views are not incrementing.

I checked the backend code and everything looks fine. There are no database connection errors as well.

A few months ago, we had done url rewriting on the site urls. Does this affect the views count. I personally feel that this shouldn't affect the views section.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you,
Amit S

Disclaimers:
a) I know nothing about URL re-writing other than "it can be done"
b) I know nothing about your URL re-writing other than "it has been done"

Anway:
Yeah I think that could be the cause, especially if the re-writes coincide in time with the views not incrementing. Again it goes back to exactly when and HOW b2evolution is deciding something is a page view. And recording that view yah?

For example suppose it records the view on hitting the permalink or the feedback link when it's not a robot or an rss visit (even though rss visits might actually be a visitor viewing - but this is a theoretical moment so bear with me). Suppose it logs the view against the URL that your settings dictate the URL would be. Clearly with URL re-writing the URL changes, so it doesn't really know where to log the hit. MAYBE!

Sorry, but I've nothing to really offer you by way of help. You asked for clickage so I clicked and reported that I clicked - then rambled a bit (kinda like I'm doing now ;) )
