My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I have just downloaded and installed b2evolution version 2.3.0-rc1.
(Fedora core 7) I have everything (???) up and running on 'localhost' as per the docs.
When I install it on my web server I will need it to accept addresses in the form:- 123.456.78.90/subfolder as that is the way my different domains are redirected to my server.
I read that this creates a problem for cookies. What is the problem? Does this mean that I won't be able to use b2evolution? - Or is there a way round it.
I will be the only person who needs to log in - to start with anyway but I wouldn't want to have that as a limiting factor.
