@rgoodman
The important bit is that before you do anything you back up your current database and all your current b2 folders and files
Read the UPGRADE DOCs write up and good luck :)
What version are you running now?

Is there anyone out there who offers their services who could potentially do the upgrade for me?

You may like to check out the professionals page, all of the people listed do paid support

Just this weekend, I finally took the plunge and upgraded from 0.9.2 to 2.4.1 (of course, just as I felt that I was sufficiently done....2.4.2 was released)

OK, I decide to port my 1.9.8 b2evo to the newest one: what problems should I expect? Is that still possible? What delayed me this much was the skin issue (I was very cozy with my ol'customized skin: I saw all new and I just scared!) and also that Im an "autoblog plugin" user (which seems to be discontinued!) Anyway, which issues should I expect? Or is straight forward this update? Thanks in advance!

Right so, it appears that I am now forced to upgrade my beloved b2
to PALMS from - wait for it, SPARKLE. And now I realise why I had decided not to do that in the first place.
I use b2evolution as a simple Content Management System. I have incorporated it into lots of sites. Each site looks quite different, not like a blog at all. It seemed that there is nothing that SPARKLE couldn't be coaxed to do. I love it with a passion.
But now, I’m a novice again and I can’t find anything about how to now do what I do in PALMS
Here's a start
What file do I go to if I need to:
list categories horizontally
list categories in ID (entered) order rather than alphabetically
?
I must say, the back office is rather lovely, isn’t it?
Right, so nobody here ever gets a response so I'll head off to another thread.

Actually you are not forced to upgrade. SUPPORT for obsolete versions is, naturally, hard to come by but that doesn't mean you have to upgrade anything.
Ignoring the previous response and this one, what kind of response would one expect when this thread is simply informational and doesn't actually ask a question?
Hey this is also an obsolete thread because it talks about 2.4.0-RC2 as if it was the latest thing. Time to upgrade the original post ... and lock this thread.
So I finally have reached the point of needing to upgrade because the spam is out of control. I didn't realize that hosting my own blog would not subject me to my hosting company upgrading.
Is there any step by step documentation of how to go about upgrading? I am in a bad spot because my blog is heavily used and I can't have any downtime. I am not worried about loosing my template, but just need to make sure the content stays.
thanks for your help,
Ryan Goodman
