My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

I'm pretty sure there's a simple solution to this problem but being a bit of a newbie to B2Evolution I've spent a while trying things and so far no luck.

THE PROBLEM
I want to add a file path url such file://myserver/transfer/transfer/sarah%20blow/Introducing%20LINQ.pdf

What I get whenever I add a url is /blogurl/file://myserver/transfer/transfer/sarah%20blow/Introducing%20LINQ.pdf

Which as you can imagine doesn't work... and we don't want to move info from one server to others all the time... so I'm wondering if I'm missing something... I've tried hard coding the html into the post and that gets superceeded too.

Any ideas are welcome!
