I know that when a user registers, they can check the box to be notified by email of new comments and trackbacks made to their posts:

Users don't get notified when I (as the blog author) post a new entry in my blog. My question is should they be? Is there an option or a way to enable blog subscription by email? In the blog settings, features tab, there’s a subscriptions section and I’ve checked it off:

Allow email subscriptions: * Allow users to subscribe and receive email notifications for each new post and/or comment.
-----------

Am I understanding this feature correctly and should it be working?
