OK, and which PHP version (look at the "About this system" screen)?
//edit: You can open this screen as follows: On the evobar (the toolbar at the top of the screen), hover your mouse over "b2evolution" and select "About this system".
//edit #2: If you couldn't install b2evolution, my explanation is pointless, of course. :-) Your programmer should know which PHP version you are using.

Well, I couldn't reproduce the notices locally using b2evo 2.4.7 and PHP 4.4.9, but then I remembered a FAQ entry -- tell your programmer to read this: http://manual.b2evolution.net/FAQ_:_After_Installation#I_have_.22Notice:_Only_variable_references_should_be_returned_by_reference_in.22_all_over_the_place
here's some more error messages I'm getting.
