Are you using IE6 by any chance? I quite often see my own blog looking like that, but only if I happen to look at it from the office, where IE6 is the only option. IE6 doesn't appear to give to much respect to the CSS instructions at times.

It's the same in IE8 too. So probably all versions of IE.

However, if you look at it with another skin, like this:

...it looks OK. So that way we know its some problem with the skin you're using, nothing more fundamental. And as it's going to affect all versions of IE it's probably worth fixing. So keep fiddling with your skin and keep testing in both IE and FF (or whatever). It's all part of the fun of making skins.
